Arturo Hernández Alcázar | Only there is shadow under this red black rock

07.02.17 - 18.03.17

Only

There is shadow under this red rock

(Come in under the shadow of this red rock),

And I will show you something different from either

Your shadow at morning striding behind you

Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;

I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

T.S. Elliot

Wasteland

Territory, plundering, dispossession, displacement, disappearance, environmental disaster, body, resistance: the declared war and the way it is taking.

MARSO presents Arturo Hernández Alcázar´s first solo show in the gallery.

Sólo sombra hay debajo de esta piedra roja negra / Only there is shadow under this red black rock*  groups the most recent production of Hernández Alcázar, in which he explores the nonlinear systems, forced disappearances, the plunder of the territory and its relation with the erosion of the representation systems, the voice as power, the residue as a sculptural and graphic possibility, exploring the idea of sculpture-residue, sculpture-residue, sculpture-action with which he reflects on several current political issues that revolve around the theme of territory in a context of dispossession and wild capitalism. His work aims to reveal perverted geologies, lists and remnants of a broken sculpture made out of fragments of a plunder environment.
